Why your New Year’s Resolution should be ballet.
Best wishes for 2018! A new year, a moment to reflect and a moment for a resolution. A moment to think about what you would love to do. Something you did not do in 2017 yet. Or something you did years ago and would like to pick up again.
I have spoken to some people who have ballet classes on their resolution list. People who danced as a child and lost ballet along the way whilst becoming an adult. I asked if they would start again in 2018. But their answer was evasive and, actually, with excuses not to.
However, if you really want to, you will be able to make some time free in your schedule. Find a ballet class near you, go out and just try it. Got to this blog post to help get started: https://www.balletforexpats.com/2019/01/06/find-a-balletschool-you-like/
Lastly, I will tell you a little story. A few years ago I was teaching in Seoul, South Korea and I remember feeling a bit uneasy. My Korean is bad so it was not easy to communicate. But when class started and we started with the universal language of dance, everything was okay. We bonded over movement and music because we had common interests. It was wonderful!
Obviously, all terminology of ballet is in French. And the advantage of teaching intermediate and advanced students is that they know all of this. But ballet helped to get together and even start other conversations. Get to know each other a little better. And have fun.
I would love for you to have the same experience.
Enjoy yourself and relax.
